How to Split XVid film?

Hi! Everybody!
Iam a newbie. Please help me how to cut a film!
I 've just download a XVid film 730 Mb(Type file: DVD Rip).
I 'd like to cut a part, the remainder about 600Mb, so that write on CDrom (data-just watching on PC).
I used alot of software (Easy Video Cutter, Avi Split Classic, Avi Trimmer, Avi Split, VCDCut, VCD Cutter, VirtualDub...) but unsuccessful.
Please help me!

To Baldrick:
After split the movies I just watch once (by WMV classic). Then I reopen, but can't watch again.
I checked Virtualdub for another Dvix film. It's very good.
But it's error for that file.
Help me again!

What container? XviD can be used in numerous different containers and splitting basically comes down to the container, not the codec used.
