I have just gotten a Panasonic DMR-e50 as a gift. I have it hooked-up to my home thetre set up that includes a fm tuner. Could I record audio only on a dvd-r? I'd like to record the local stations broadcast of the Live-8 concerts. And if possible how could I do it? Thanks in advance for any help.

I don't know if this works with the Panasonic but I've recorded audio-only on my Pioneer DVR-510H-S by merely unplugging the video connection. This allowed me to burn about 7 hours of PCM audio on a DVD. I suppose I could burn 5 times that much using an AC-3 setting.

However, I don't remember if the disc played back on my Pioneer. I was just using this as a way to digitize some LPs that I then took to my computer for resampling and making audio CDs.

I have the JVC, and it would not let me do an audio-only recording. It complained about having no video signal and would not let me record. Hopefully, the Panasonic will be different.

As for the connection to the FM tuner.
Route the signal as if you were going to record to your cassette recorder.
Then take the cables going into the cassette recorder and plug
them into the AUDIO IN on the Panasonic.

    Good luck.

You could also try recording to the hard drive on your PC.
