Definately a scratched/damaged disc. I also have the same problem with my damaged discs.

You could however try different rippers, like smartripper, ISO buster etc.. Maybe you'll be lucky.

Not always, not necesserally. I'm getting the same on a brand new copy of "Empire of the Sun". Tried all combinations of Shrink and deCrypter. Scratching my head at the moment.

randomhero, what dvd are you trying to rip?

Does it contain sony's arccoss protection? (dvd decrypter will tell you this)

Try a different DVD drive if possible too ...
    If in doubt, Google it.

That's a Warner Brothers DVD and not a very new release, shouldn't be any of the newer, difficult protections on it. I'm betting on a defective disc. Or perhaps a dirty laser lens. Or your drive's going bad.
    Pull! Bang! Darn!

Stupid, stupid, stupid. Downloading every program suggested on the site. Stopping at 70% with all programs, same message as Randoms' (on Decrypter), me wasting all day and thinking what the f*** is going on ? Brand new dvd, can't possibly be the disc's fault ! Eventually put it through the standalone and...

I'm betting on a defective disc.
Frtitzi, you were right ! Same point on the standalone. How the heck can they be producing defective discs ? Quality control is gone for a burton. So the moral is: expect the unexpected, when all fails, check the brand new disc before banging head on wall.
Does this mean though that all discs from same batch will be faulty, or just the one off ?

When trying to play a dvd to check for defective discs, the better option is to play on your PC (you can try standalone dvd player too).

PC DVD drives tend to be more sensative to errors than standalone dvd players.
