Hey all ive got an Xvid mpeg 4 is that avicodec tells me and whenever i try to open the video in tmpgenc to encode it to an mpeg instead of an avi tmpgenc just crashes and ive already changed the direct show file reader thing in the environmental settings and this still happens so if anyone out there can think of anything that would help or another program i can use to change the video into something i can use (keep in mind i have to add an audio file to it aswell) would be GREATLY appreciated!!

One thing that comes to mind is the audio format. MP3 VBR audio can cause that. The common cure is to save out the audio as a WAV with VirtualDub and use that for the encoder sound input. Or you can convert the WAV to AC3 with a program like ffmpegGUI.

AVIcodec should usually identify MP3 VBR.
