If I can play it in windows media player it mean that the codec is properly installed right ?

  4. dude ffdshow doesn't install the actual codecs it's just a directshow filter, you will still need the actual codec installed to convert it to vcd/svcd.

From the ffdshow page in 'Tools': "ffdshow is a DirectShow decoding filter for decompressing....." You want to encode. Gunslinger's link should take you to the Xvid encoder.

Wrong actually. ffdshow offers dshow decoding and encoding, as well as VfW decoding and encoding. It is way more than just a dshow filter.

Sounds like it just isn't enabled to handle XviD via VfW. Simple matter of going into the options and enabling it.

ffdshow can also encode to XviD, however it requires an XviD dll to do it. It can also encode to libavcodec MPEG4 though.
