How about renaming the Latest News forum to something more appropriate and black and white? Perhaps:

Forum Index -> Video -> Latest News

to

Forum Index -> Video -> Latest Video News

It seems some people don't read each individual forum descriptions, even seasoned members. I would have thought:

Post any video related news here such as new or updated tools, hardware, guides, sites and similiar. No off topic news please!

would be plain enough.

Each time I see the red text in the corner of my eye on the front page I immediately jump to read something about nothing. It's messin' with my chi, man.

It would be a good thing, but some people make a tenuous link to what is video-related. The description should be clarified too - nothing but video eg. the latest advances in new formats etc. and not what is on the TV.

i disagree - "video" is a wide range of subjects related to media, methods and current events - so subjects may not be real obvious to some people as to there link to video ... but rest assured they are there and pertinent ..

stretch your mind people and and dont be so narrow minded ..
NOTHING needs to be changed in the description and I for one would like to see even greater latitude ...

God knows - more than a few people need some education on what goes in the real world outside their backyards ..

I also think the description is fine. What is not fine that people don't stick to it. If I want to stretch my mind I know where to look. Also, don't condescend, assuming I or others here have narrow minds. I'm sure you have seen a great many things I have not. The opposite is also true - very true.

You are writing like people don't know how to find a news-reporting site. Surely that is just as easy to find as a site to help them with any aspect of working with video? I'm sure any Earth-shattering news will be broadcast ad-infinitum on any TV channel showing news programs, radio stations and news websites. However, I am sure I can sustain myself long enough rather than reading here that Michael Jackson (as you, yourself, posted in Latest News) was set free a split second before I might have clicked my bookmark to read BBC News.

I know there is more out there than reading text on this site - sometimes I want some refuge from it. Is it so bad I would like this place to be on topic?.

i should have posted MJ in off topic - i admit it .. though it is media related , which is why i posted it there ...

i try to keep everything else in NEWS on topic and move many posts a day from there ... i watch that part of the forum like a hawk ..

if you see the nature of the topics i start in OT vs. News .. you can quickly pick up on the diff. between the two ..

news is not a general news area .... anyway , it is apparent that though the ability to read news online is there , only a few partake of such a thing. though the level of user here is much higher than on some other sites 4 sure ..
