I would like to image a dvd with menus and everything and than play the image file. so I can put all my images in one folder and pick what I want played with dvd blue-ray and other formats it would be nice to to load a few dvd image files on one disc. anyone got a idea on how to do this? would it be hard to write a program to do it? is it even possible?

use any authoring tool and ouput to a folder on the hd instead burning. use image classic to make an iso.
play the image with videolan, mpc or mount as a virtual unit with daemon tools. -
Either what Baldrick said or just use DVDShrink with or without compression set and Output to ISO. Then all you need is something like DaemonTools to mount the ISO for you whenever you want to play them on your PC and they will play as if you had inserted the DVD into your DVD Drive.
