    ...from Download.com.

A quick look suggests that the tracks aren't from big name bands, but might be useful anyway.

I don't know if using these breaches copyright - you'll have to take a closer look at the site and any notices it has.
There is some corner of a foreign field that is forever England: Telstra Stadium, Sydney, 22/11/2003.

Looks like its legal to me. Looks like a bunch of unsigned bands that are looking for any way to distribute their music any way they can. If course, if they become popular, they'll likely claim it is a breach of copyright...money...sigh...

Still, this a way that a young band can make their name known. If it proves popular on these kinds of websites, a record company may give them a second look. Short answer: yes, it's legal.

  3. That website is legal,I think it's great and easy to navigate....and no stinking DRM.
    Way to go CNET!

BTW..as was mentioned the music is still copyrighted under the Berne Convention so you can not use it for profit.

  7. the old mp3.com had free music like this. The bands got paid for the download or stream. You could also buy a cdr that would play in a regular player and has the tracks in mp3 format. Found a lot of great music. I was saddened when the site was sold and all the music disappeared.
