    What is the best tool to cut a windows media file in half?, I would do it in windows movie maker but the bloody thing keeps crashing just after I have impoted my movie and added it to the timeline

    SO what is the best tool and why does my movie maker keep crashing?

    What kind of movie file are you trying to split?

    VIRTUALDUBMOD will split an avi file in half or EASY VIDEO SPLITTER free trial on google, both are very easy to use. Search the guides on this site for using virtualdub.

    Virtualdub won't work on .wmv
    Try MS's wmv encoder (free download).

    That's the main problem of all programs that start with MS before it's name...

    I agree with Baldrick, Steeper is the way to go.
