why video playing slow on my computer?

I am new on this dv, I transfered some video clips to my computer using the sofware came with the camcorder. the camcorder is sony dcr-hc21. the video is AVI. and my computer is play it frame by frame instead of normal run, why? appreciated any help.

Is it running going frame by frame or skipping frames with jerky audio? How does the video play if you convert it to something like MPEG2?

It's running frame by frame. another thing my computer is be able to play dvd movies and play computer. I have not try to convert it to MPEG2.

It may just be choking, your CPU isn't very powerful. Doesn't mean you can't use it, just that everthing is goinf to be sllloooooooooooowwww. Have you tried burning a disc and see how it works on a standalone. Just do a short clip 10- second clip.
