I have found that the quality of the MPEG 1 file produced in 2.02 are not as good as those produced in 2.01. Has anyone elase found this.

Are you sure? What's your source? You should use the same movie when doing a comparison.

My source is the same file AVI used in each version. The thing I have noticed is that the MPEG1 is softer in 2.02 than in 2.01 using the same settings (a template I have made). This is a shame because the MPEG1 files that I am getting from 2.01 are very good much better in fact than most bought VCD's that I have purchased.
Take care

I can't say for mpeg 1, but for mpeg 2, I think 2.2 is better 2.1...
Fixed some bugs, better VBR...
