  1. I have been researching this for several days now. I am going to have a DVD job pressed. In order for us to get CSS copy protection they want the job on DLT with CSS flags encluded. I now use DVD lab and like it very much but it will not export to DLT with CSS. The most reasonable program $ I have found in Ulead DVD workshop. The first problem I noticed is that Workshop wants to do the encoding but I use cinema craft basic. The Ulead website says it will check the file first to see if it should be encoded, I just see problems with this. Do any of you know of authoring programs that will do this and use an external .mpv MPEG2 DVD ready files? Or any other ideas.

    Thanks, Jeff

DVD WS 2 has a checkbox option to use your compliant source files "asis" or to re-encode them if you want. So you have complete control whether or not the program should re-encode (at the video and audio levels).

  4. I just looked all over the program for the checkbox ASIS and do not see it. Preferences, properties, tools, etc. Can you tell me where it is? Also went to help and searched for ASIS and got no return.

I think he meant "AS-IS" or "AS IS".

    Yes, that's what I meant

The checkbox is actually in the EDIT step. It is called "Convert to disc template" -- leave it blank, and DWS will use your source files "AS IS" (i.e. no re-encoding). Put a check in that box, and DWS will re-encode to your project settings.

The checkbox is under the VIDEO and AUDIO tab (so you can control them separately).

If your source files are NOT compliant for the type of disc you are creating, that box will be grayed out, and DWS will encode to your project settings.

NOTE: this is how DWS 2.x handles it -- it is different in DWS 1.x.
