Just got a new Sony recorder 330, but these are pretty general questions that the good folks here could probably answer better than Sony:
1) LIne one works fine with the regular yellow, white, red cable (what's that one called again?), but why try to connect with S output line 1, does not work, why? and then when use line 2 with S cord it works, but no audio. (is not S connections both audio and video?)
2) On Sony playlist, I see titles in non-sequential order, 1,2,7,3,4...
3) when I was testing short 20 sec clips, the recorder finalized them fast. But when I went to finalized just 7 short 20 sec clips it took an eternity. why?
4) on playback on my JVC player, I'm used to seeing thumbnails. I see none now with the finalized Sony disc. why not?
thanks, appreciate the help.

If you mean S VIDEO it is only VIDEO no audio. You have to hook up the audio cables or a coaxial or optic cable output to get the sound.

1. Did you try unoplugging the yellow cable (Video) when you tried the S-Video cable?
You need the S-Video and the red and white cables. The red and white are for sound and the S-Video is for video.
Don't know about thethumbnails, it may be setting or it may be a SONY thing. I have a personally selected Thumbnail for each title with my Pioneer 531h. -
thanks Yoda:
So is the S cable, (which is only video) really that much better than the yellow cable? my guess is I would see no difference.
YEs, T. I unplugged the yellow cable, just double checked again. thanks. On the JVC, it used to give me a random thumbnail. -
S-video is WAY better than composite (yellow) and you should be able to notice the difference easily. Depends on your eyes and your monitor though.
I found that finalizing very short clips can cause long delays on some units. They will attempt to write a minimum amount of data to the DVD as part of the process which can take a while, 5-10 minutes on one unit I tested."Art is making something out of nothing and selling it." - Frank Zappa -
thanks, zippy, I'm going to make a new thread, but please let me know if you have any ideas on why s input is not working on input 1, but working on input 2
