I got a movie that is in SVCD format.
The file size is ruffly 790mb's. So it will not fit onto a single CD-R.
So what I try to do is Put the SVCD , using TOAST and use a blank DVD+RW and burn it. It burned and completed, but when I put it in my stand alone dvd player it says "disk error" . Is there something I need software to do? Steps needed in process?? Thanks 4 any tips to get this going. Mucho gracias!!

Keep in mind that I only have a MAC and the SVCD movie is on my mac. and I like to get this SVCD onto either a CD-R to fit or put on a black DVDR .
Thanks again.*New Mac user*, been PC user 4 life -
Wouldn't 800Mb disk be easiest solution? Most burners do over 800Mb disks and there is media guaranteed at least to 875Mb. Notice, Toast won't do more than 700Mb (on CD-R), you need Missing Media Burner, or Roast (all free), maybe some other does too.

Most players will reject an SVCD burned to DVD+/-R. To be a proper SVCD, it has to be on CD media.
A 790MB SVCD-compliant MPEG *will* fit on a 700MB CD if it's burned as an SVCD. VCDs and SVCDs are purposely split into 800MB chunks so they'll fit onto CD-R.
If the movie is in MPEG format (movietitle.mpg or movietitle.mpeg), find VCDToolsX using Google, MacUpdate, VersionTracker or the Tools section of this site, and pack the MPEG into a .bin/.cue disk image. Then use the Copy tab on Toast and choose the bin/cue image option to burn the SVCD.
If it's already in disk image format (movietitle.bin & movietitle.cue), go straight to the Copy tab on Toast and choose the bin/cue image option.
It does seem odd that an 800MB file fits on a 700MB disc, but data CD/DVDs require a lot of error correction information. S/VCDs have error correction built-in, so more can be burned to the disc. -
I'm curious about which brands offer 800MB CDs? I've often hit a similar problem when burning audio CDs. Sometimes the disk I'm backing up is larger than a normal CD-R disk's 700 MB. But I've never seen the larger media in stores. Are they available only on-line?

I have 875Mb Rimax branded. Bought 'em from computer store, but that's here in Finland.

I know TDK at least HAD 800Mb disks.i-NCO -
ok here is the deal. The movie is in SVCD.TS at least that is what the movie folder is called.
Now when I open the folder. It has 2-sub folders inside. One folder is labeled CD1 and the other folder is labeled CD2.
In CD1 folder there is 57 files that is named ctp-how01.r00 and all the way to ctp-how01.r54 (so a total of 54 files each in the number order.
There are 2 other folders which one of the two is called a ctp-how01.rar and then the last folder labeled ctp-how01.sfv.
So what files do I need to grab to put this onto a CD-r??
I can play each of these folders with VLC and all I do is select file folder CD1 or CD2 and let VLC do the rest to make the movie and sound play. Now as for which files I need to make a CDr to work,,, Now I need the support and help. Please help. very confusedThanks guys for your support.

What I did from VLC is select the file name like ctp-how01.r52 or ctp-how01.r48 and it seems to be like a chapter selection . So maybe these are chapters each one is like 14mb's . Grand total of combine both CD1 & cd2 folders is a little over 1 gig. Thanks again.

I dont know your MAC authoring/burning software, but Im rather sure it must have option of burning disc images. Any windows software can do it, so should your 'superior' mac software too :P
From the rest of the post I understand you have some 'scene release' which is packed in RARs. Unpack them and you will have a .BIN + .CUE files. The latter (.cue) is a cuesheet which will tell your burning/authoring software how to burn the binary image (.bin) on a CDR.
VCDs and SVCDs images can have up to 840MB and they will still fit on a standard 80-min/700MB CD-R disc; they are burnt in Mode 2 - CDXA, not Mode 1 like standard CD-ROMs, thats why they fit 'more' data.
Again - I dont know MAC software. Just find in its options or help "burn disc image" then select or open with your burning software the .cue file and it should burn it on CDR easily. -
I think missing media burner has an option for "over-burning" a disk, which is what you need to do in this case. It's been a while since I played with SVCD's so I'm a little hazy...
