As part of my job I have to encode some content into Windows Media format (WMV/ASF) which I do through a Winnov capture card.

The results are ok, but what is the 'best' method to use?

I have experimented with capturing the content via a DV camera, then firewire'ing that into a DV AVI and then encoding from that.

Deinterlacing for content >288/240 lines high seems to be key here, Windows Media Encoder doesn't do a great job, the results are often blurry.

I once heard that capturing with a high-end MPEG2 card that could do the deinterlacing was the best way.

What do you guys think?

Thanks
Rich
