  1. Anybody know of a free pdf to bmp converter? I've seen a few trial downloads on-line but they have a watermark. Need to convert a PDF image to BMP to use as an image in a DVD menu.

Adobe Acrobat Reader (which is free and is installed already on just about ever computer) has a text select tool and a graphics select tool on its main toolbar at the top of the screen. Just click on the little graphics select tool and draw a box around the graphic you want to copy (including any part of the text you want). Hit your right mouse key and select copy or go the Edit -> copy menu and select copy. Then go to your favorite graphics program, paste in the image, and convert it to a BMP. IRFANVIEW (a free graphics program) is great for quick graphic conversions. Note that graphics in PDF files are compressed (jpg) and will show compression traits. You can use the text select tool in the same way to grab text out PDF files and paste into word processing documents. I hope this helps.

  4. Thanks, I'll give those a try. I tried using that graphics select tool but it will not paste into adobe photoshop. I'll keep working with it though, thanks for the tips.

  5. Don't highlight anything. Just hit your "print screen" key. Then start a new Photoshop image and paste from the clipboard.

Adding to what TheUnknownComic said; PhotoShop will create a new blank image the exact size of whatever you have pasted to the clipboard when you click on the Photoshop Edit->New menu.
