Bitorrent question about compiling files

I am very new to all of this. Not sure where to post this question or if you can even help but I've gotten all my video questions answered so well here before.

I have used a couple of bit torrent programs and have down loaded a few files. The first was simple in that it came as a complete movie (Assault on Precinct 13.avi). All of my other down loads have come as segmented/fragmented files of 10 or more segments, this includes some software applications also. My question, in case you have not guessed already, is "how do I put the segments of each together as one complete file or movie"?

.rar files can be joined with WinRar. That's the most common system used. Other types depend on the kind of files they are.
