I'm sure I'm screwed, but here's what I did.

I have the ILO DVDRHD04.
I put in a DVD+RW disc to erase.
I made sure the DVD was the target, not the HDD.
I had tried to edit the disc, but it was un-sucessful, so then I tried to erase it. That was un-sucessful also.
I pushed "Tools" "Clean up disc" "Delete All".

Double checking that the DVD was the target I went ahead, but you guessed it, my HDD was erased.

Is there any way to bring it back? I had many shows that are un-replacable.

I think you mis-interpreted what the "Tools" button shows. Mine shows Clean up HDD. The recorder doesn't give you an option to selectively erase files on a DVD. I have a Liteon but it is the same as the ILO.

The button that selects HDD/DVD is really only the default device the unit will record to if you press the record button. It can also be used to select which device it will play back files from.

You cannot really erase individual files on RW media. Some devices may allow deleting of files on RW media but they are only flagged as being deleted so they wont show up in the file list. But, the space they were recorded on cannot be used until you erase the complete disc. I say this with tongue in cheek because there was some attempt to format CD's in a way where they could be partially erased, but that was when media was rather expensive and I think for the most part that procedure has been abandoned.

I'm sorry to say but johnahl is right. I have done the same thing before but in a different way. I had 2 HD04's that I was working with. I did an erase function on one of them to clean up the HDD after copying some recordings to DVD. Upon pressing erase, I saw the percentage counter counting up.....on both recorders!!!! Without even thinking about it, I failed to realize that both recorders would be reacting to the remote I was using. I managed to effectively erase both recorders, losing everything, in one shot!!

You don't bother to put in your computer profile, or tell us what operating system you are using, or tell us what file system you are using.

If your HD was "wiped" then you may be in trouble. If not, then there are programs that CAN recover files that are erased, even on NTFS file systems.

Since we're talking about the HD in a ILO DVDRHD04, I don't see how my computer specs are relevent.

Ohhh, I now see that the catagory is DVD Recorders (I was wondering where the "TOOLS" button came from!). My bad...

But you should input your computer specs!
