  1. Hi.
When using TMPGEnc MPEG editor to merge to files together, if the file is over 4 GB it comes up There is not enough available free space on the disk" Output to disk D: requires 4.18GB free space. A total of 4.18 GB is required.

Now disk D: is the Hard drive.

Even if there was a limit of a DVD disc surely it would be 4.7 gb..

Even when I try to Merge using MPEG tools in TMPGEnc plus 2.5 I still get a warning "not enough disk space""

    Please can someone help

    Thank you

How is your drive formatted, go to My computer and right click it and select properties. On the general tab look for file system. If it's labled FAT then there's a 4 gig limit to file size. It needs to be reformatted to NTFS

In XP to format right click the drive and select format and set to NTFS, don't do this lightly though as there is a small chance of corrupting the drive making it unusable. Backup all your important data first.

You are running XP. Unless you have some very pressing reason to stay with FAT32 (dual boot with 98 matbe), convert all your drives to NTFS. You can handle much larger files, you will get performance gains, and you get more usuable space as NTFS clusters are much smaller than FAT32 clusters on large drives. Just make sure you defrag straight after you convert.
