I have all of my cd's on my HD in .wma format.
Over 5,000 songs.
My PC is connected to my receiver, and MediaPlayer is soooo much easier than sifting through all the cd's, plus, now they aren't getting scratched.
I picked up the new NIN yesterday, and after 2 hours, it's still only 25% through adding the 4th track to my library!!
WTF??
It usually takes about 2 or 3 minutes (MAX!) to add an album to the library.
I've tried stopping it and restarting it. Tried using a different optical drive.
What's going on here?
I even deleted a different album from the library & HD and then added it in again. It only took about 2 minutes...

yo man get rid of that microsoft shit, all they got is crap.
get mplayerc or maybe its just mplayer....do a search for it. it will open just about anything your computer can throw at it from mp3 to dvd.
as far as playlists go which seems to be a prob. mplayer might not be as fancy...u will have to create a playlist for every cd. but all u will have to do to play it is just open that playlist and boom there u go.
it opens 100x faster than mcrap and u don't have to mess with your playlists ever again!!! -
I like MediaPlayer for it's library feature and 'juke-box' capability.
I know a lot of people hate MediaPlayer and talk a lot of shit about it, but this is the first problem I've ever had with it.
I think there's some kind of weird protection on this disc."To steal ideas from one person is plagiarism; to steal from many is research." - Steven Wright

well, I've narrowed it down to one of 2 things...
it's either the OS, or the optical drive(s)
I added it to the library on my Win2k machine in under 2 minutes on a cd-rom drive
the other machine is XP & only has DVD drives"To steal ideas from one person is plagiarism; to steal from many is research." - Steven Wright
