    The manual says the obvious about having to finalize a dvd r before you can play it in other players........it does not say HOW to do it though. No "finalize" button on the remote or the unit.

    Anyone know how to do this?

    From the title menu, press the up button on the remote, then the right button, then the down button until it is resting on finalize. Then press OK...

    You can only finalize DVD+R disks. DVD+RW do not need to be finalized.

    Ps the title menu is the one that shows what is recorded on the disk.
