  1. Hello to all,

I am quite new and unexperienced when it comes to DVD burning. I recently took some Avi files and converted them to DVD using WinAvi. The files tested good as they played well in nerovision and on windows media player. When converting the files (10 total) i chose all the files and it converted them all together making the output a 10 chapter dvd. Now, when i try to burn the dvd using nero i get a message stating, "Disc is not registered...in write strategy list". When i try to burn through WinAvi, it opens nero and i get the same message. The disk that I am trying to use is a DVD+R..i usually use DVD-R discs and burn disks using DVD Shrink program. If i try DVD shrink the burn process fails also. I opened the options box in nero and noticed that under the "types" of dvd the DVD+R box is not checked and i was not able to check that box. I have a TSST burner. I have not yet tried to burn the files using a DVD-R, I just want to know if the message i get with nero is something that i have to worry about or if there as way to fix this. If i ignore the message i can burn the disc but it is not playable on a dvd player. Someone mentioned that it might also be a WinAvi problem due to converting numerous files at once instead of converting one file at a time. I hope someone can help me with this. Thanks in advance for the help.

  2. As I understand your message, The Disks that give that message are not supported by your burner. That is probably why they do not play the burner does not know what write strategy to use. You could check and see if your burners firmware has an update. Be very cautious as you can trash your drive flashing new firmware. Easiest might be try other disks.

    Good Luck

  3. Not to sound ignorant or dumb but, is the firmware the same as update driver????? I did notice that when i went to the properties of my burner i accidently changed my region from 1,2,3,4 to 1...would this make a difference? Thanks for the reply and for the help

  4. Firmware is like a bios for the drive. Drivers are for windows itself. The firmware must come from the manufacturer of the drive and be for the specific make and model.

    Region settings are something else.

  5. Ok i have updated the driver through the manufacturer website (TS-H552B) Samsung and the problem is still there. I bought new DVD-R discks and i still get that little message" this disc is not registered ...write strategy list" I dont really know what the hell i'm doing wrong. I don't think it's the files because it doesnt say anything about not able to read the files. How can i update or get the darn write strategy to where it needs to be???

  6. Just as a test have you tried burning Data to the disks that give this error. IOW try making a data disk backing up other files from yoyr computer to make sure it isn't something in the DVD Video you are trying to burn. It is possible that Nero is giving a false error message. BTW DVD Shrink uses the Nero burning engine so that doesn't eliminate Nero.

Look in tools for software such as ImgTools to make and dvd image and then try burning the ISO image with DVD Decrypter and see what happens.

    Good Luck

  7. Well, i have now been able to burn using DVD shrink and once it starts the burning process i get a message saying, cannot burn at 2.4x will burn at 2x. Which is fine because the movie burns complete and it is playable on my dvd player. When i try to even burn a normal cd-r data disk using nero i get the same message. Write strategy..."blah blah blah", i burn it and then verify it..and the disk is fine and all the data is there. The same thing doesnt happen with DVD though. Why is it that DVD shrink is able to burn the 10 files onto 1 dvd but if i use nero..or Nero showtime expressi can't fit all of the files onto 1 (dvd 4G). The files are mpeg2.
