I've attempted to convert some xVid and DivX, AVi files to DVD but keep making coasters. The Discs play in my PC DVD player, but not my standalone DVD player.
The DVD player plays copies, I have a number of these that play with no problem. When I check the contents of the files on the disc that I have created they are identical to others that have been done for me and play fine on my DD player.
When I put my created disc in the player, it says no disc, but then plays fine on my PC.
I am using VSO DivX to DVD copier, as I find this the easiest to use and quickest to convert, but then burn with either Nero or CopytoDVD, both of which give the error no disc in my DVD player.
I've attached the screen print of my disc contents...

Have you looked on the left under DVD players to see if your player is compatible with the type of disc. Not all standalones play both +R and -R, some neither.
If that's not the trouble I'd try a different brand disc, look under DVD Media for what to purchase and stay away from. -
The DVD player I have is an Eltax player, that I bought specifically becuase there's nothing it won't play, right down to Divx and xVid.
I tried to burn the same projects I've had problems with onto a DVD+ RW and this works fine. I've done nothing different. Could this be a finalising issue? -
