I have found (through info in this forum) that the file size of captured DV files or clips can be greatly reduced by the TMPGenc program prior to producing. Does anyone know if these files can be reduced or compressed by this program (TMPGEnc) after a storyline has been made(edited, sound clips, etc.) and save, prior to the final production??? I did find out months ago that you cannot delete those files or you will screw up your storyline prior to production. I,ve been working on this production for months just like everyone else here in this form and I don't want to start over again . Thank You for any help or insight.
My saved captures = 12.2 GB's (prior to production)
Running time w/ produced in Mpeg 1 = approx. 50 minutes
Goal = Reproduce original edited storyline so I can output to video. To compress original capture file sizes through TMPGEnc, maintain integrity of original edited storyline and produce in DV template to output to video.

buck1996,
You could copy and paste to make another copy of your clip. Then use the copy to encode with TMPGEnc. since you have such HD size. Then if anything happens, you still have your original. TMPGEnc. will reproduce another clip instead of affecting the original one. But since this is your few months hardship, why take chances? You'll be able to fit a 50 min onto at 74 min cd easily. Just don't be too concern about the file size, when making xvcd, we're more focus on the mins.
If I recall correctly, videowave4 could capture in vcd mode. However, don't ever just burn dazzle's capture clip without encoding because dazzle does not give the proper encodings. Plus, are you sure the video and audio is sync? I got the videowave4 at first but the sync part drove my nuts. I then I settle with the DVC II. Perfect! Jordan -
Jordan- I did try to get my my uproduced, edited file into TMPGEnc but it says it is an unsupported file. First off when I brouse to bring a file into TMPGEnc my storyline is not shown as a compressable file, I have to brouse in "all" to see the storyline. One thing I'm trying to do is get around the 4GB/20 minute that Video Wave has in the DV production mode. I got good results with the same storyline produced producing in MPEG 1 to CD. My problem is producing in DV template so Video Wave will output to VHS. Video Wave will only "output to video" when produced in DV.
