  1. There isnt much to go by but I just went to possibly the greatest cover site to find out it was shut down. Pretty sad I must say.

Hate to see a site like that go

But on the other hand, I can see why.

First, I think that the "money being made off my site" (paraphrase) refers to that Karels0ft prog that lets you directly download from the sites, rather than visiting. The softwarez's a piece of crap and when it does (did) work, it denies the site holder ofthe hits.

The main pitfall of the site was that it was primarily warez-related. On any given day, the main page would display 30-60 new covers, 80%+ being films that were still in the theaters, and in many cases, were still due to hit theaters (ie. Batman Begins, Revenge of the Sith )

    So, overall, no big loss.

    Wow...
I went to look for a cover just yesterday at another site, it's bookmarked right under Daprogger, but i never went there....
I never really like that site anyways, there are still better ones
But it does suck, i have found stuff there once in awhile when i could'nt find it anywhere else
Sucks, my scanner fritzed awhile back and it really sucked because it would not run under XP, Umax never released drivers for it to run under XP, so i had to change between 2 OS for when i wanted to scan on one of my other pc's, and my other scanner is a cheapo and does not do as good of a job, so i guess i need to go buy another high end scanner

If you read his post in the forum, the site did not "get shutdown." He chose to take it offline because he just didn't want to do it anymore.

Honestly the site wasn't very good. The only unique content was alot of very poor quality scans...mostly, and some truly horrible custom covers (solid black background with screen caps stretched to fill spaces). Everything else was customs taken from other sites. Main problem was the slow speed.

I liked the site b/c it did have some decent alternatives to the original covers.

Anyone found a decent alternative yet?

Just because you are paranoid, doesn't mean they aren't after you . . .

some people just try to get way too close to the original product.

i'd rather spend my money on high quality recordable dvd's.

label the disc with a sharpie, download a basic cover from the amazon.com dvd description, and tape it in to the slimline case.

I used to be a sharpie guy as well, but a printed DVD is just so far superior to writing on a disc.

Just make sure you don't start using the sticker labels, those will mess up the DVD.
