I have several mkv files that I'd like to convert to vcd. I have the mastroka pack, mkvtoolkit, and mkvextract. My problem, when I run mkvextract and load my mkv files, in the box that should load the list of files in the mkv, I get an error that the -i command can only be used with files. I have searched all over the web for anyone with the same problem, but to no success. I've uninstall and reloaded the files several times, but keep coming up with the same problem. Does anyone have ANY idea what is happening? These files used to work before I had to format my HD....

I'm using mkvtoolnix 1.0.1 for windows 2000 and mkvextractgui1.52. As far as I can tell, they are the latest versions.

These mkv's won't load into vdubmod. I've tried that. There very few files that load into vdubmod anymore. I have to find something else for my ogm's now. I have a bunch of files that vdubmod won't pull the full subtitle files on them. It gets half way through and then bombs, so I only have half the file.

I'll d/l the lastest version and try it Baldrick, thanks.

  6. Can you load these files in GSpot?

No. Gspot won't read .mkv. I upgraded to the latest version, and it works now....mostly.

I now have a problem with extracting the subtitles from some files. When I load the files into mkvextract, I get the track listings, but on the subs, I get the error "file format note recognized (VobSub). I have VobSub 2.23 installed. Any idea why it won't recognize the subtitles?

That worked out great Baldrick, just what I needed. Thanks! Though, now, I can't get the sub files to load into anything. Vdub doesn't recognize them, and Subtitle workshop gives me a "bad sub or unsupported format" error. How can I find out what format these subs are in? There's nothing in the files to help....

Well I would imagine that they would be in vobsub format, although I have no idea what mkvextract outputs as certain information is discarded and the file compressed when you mux it.
