I have a Mad Dog 6 in 1 8X DVD +- R/RW drive. I have encased it in a Bytecc external enclosure. I have been trying to burn DVDs and have mixed responses ... mostly bad.

    Medias: -
Dynex +r 8x --- Got these from Office Max during Thanks Giving. Most of these only burned upto 36 - 50 % and then the DVD writer went in loop or so I think because the burn percentage never increased. I "washed one of the disks with soap water " and dried it and tried burning it and it burned great...... tried this with one more but it again had problems.

I asked a friend having a DELL laptop with internal DVD writer and it worked great.

    KHypermedia - DVD-R 4x speed
Tried 2 both of them had similar problems but only after 85 - 90 % data was burned.

    Imitaion - DVD+RW 4X
These burned just great. One of them had a problem but then I upgraded the firmware and everything looks great.

The original firmware was version 1.06. I upgraded it to 1.0A from the NEC site as the drive is actually NEC ND2500A

Could someone help me please. Should I return the drive and get one of some other manufacturer???? I am a novice in this field.

  2. I think you just need better media.

    KHypermedia & Dynex = crap

  4. Different drives like different media. Try to find out the media ID of the Imations that worked for you.
