i have 3 dvd's that are 20 minutes long or a gig in size each that i'd like to combine into 1 dvd, is there a guide out there or someone know of an easy way to do this?

dvd remake pro will allow you to merge dvd's. However, it is easier to do only 2 dvd's, but if you put some work into it, you could make it work for 3 dvd's.
Some people are only alive because it may be illegal to kill them -
It depends if you only need the movies or if you want to keep the menus. Movies only can be done by ripping and demultiplexing the individual DVDs then reauthor with your favorite authoring program. If you want to keep menus, it is much easier with special software like dvd remake pro.

DVDAuthor will do it, there's a free trial period so you can try this out. Copy the 3 dvds to your hard drive, I would use DVDDecrypter in files mode, this should give you 3 folders. You can choose file or dvd under new project and then you can add each dvd in turn to your project. You can trim, add chapter points, and various other manipulations to each dvd. Then you can make a simple menu for all three. This program is simple and doesn't give the number of options others do, but it is quick and easy and generally i find it adequate for my needs.
