  1. I have DVD Player (Philips 642) that can play movies in Divx and Xvid formats. I wonder does it make sense to convert Divx movies from Avi to DVD?

What are benefits or advantages of converting Divx movies to DVD?

As far as I understand any conversion even recompression as in this case
will not improve quality of the movie. In fact quality will likely lower in this case.

Can anyone experienced with movie conversion confirm or disprove my point of view.

    Thank you

  2. No advantage, except you can use menus. Whenever you convert you lose quality. Also XviD is much smaller then MPEG-2.
This plan is so bad, it must be one of ours.

The only other disadvantage is you can only play it on your dvd player and not others which cant play divx or xvid.
    I think,therefore i am a hamster.
