  1. HI all-

I have an assortment of programs on my hard drive that I'd like to burn to DVD to eventually play on my TV (using set top DVD player).

Some are .avi & some MPEG & DivX. Total is about 5.5GB- I'd love to get it all on one DVD but may have to split it up? I only have a 4x, single side 4.7 burner.

What would be the best strategy to get them all to the same format w/the least degredation in quality?

    Thanks for your opinions/tips/feedback,

    Tracy

And if you have 5.5gb of Divx/Xvid/etc, figure on spreading over 2- 3 DVDs. Mpeg-2 compression is not as high as other formats, so the converted videos take up more space for the same quality.

Better yet, why waste all the time and headaches, buy yourself a DVD player like the Phillips DVP642. Burn the files as data. Watch them play. No you won't have a menu, but sounds like it won't matter. Many folks have ended up with many files obtained from various sources and various ways the files were authored etc. Trying to get them all converted to a standard DVD format may be a time consuming adventure. Do what I did, decide if its worth the effort.

    Works for me

You dont get menus like a normal DVD but you get a generic one and if you seperate your files into folders, it's really easier to use.
