  1. ok, here it goes, i have downloaded several avi video files off the internet, and i would like to be able to watch them on my own home entertainment dvd player. SO... i have downloaded and registered Boilsoft's AVI to DVD converter and converted my files to mpeg2. Then i used a program called Ifoedit to change the mpeg2 into a VOB file because that is what so friends of mine have told me to do. Now... i have bought several DVD-RWs and i have an external DVD writer (by PIONEER). I have tried to burn the VOB files (all in my VIDEO_TS file) onto the DVDs and i get about half way through the download, and the busy light on the external DVD writer goes off. Then my computer says the drive (E is not responding and i have to restart my computer. (by the way, i have selected the files and used the SEND TO option and i have also used NERO to try to burn these files)

I have tried to download each segment of the VOB files seperately, wont work. I have search PIONEER's website, and find no help, and i have checked the users manuel, no help. I have searched the web for updates and patches, no luck.

Any suggestions, help, or alternate ways of doing what im doing, im all ears. Thanks for ur time and help if u have any.

  2. Dude- try a real dvd authoring program on those mpegs. Compile the dvd to hard drive folder. This way you can test it with s/w dvd player before burning to disc. If it's fine, then try a burn and see what happens.

Let the authoring program deal with the already dvd compliant mpeg 2 and create the dvd structure. There's more than vob's on a playble dvd.
