i have just converted my cd burner to dvd and now converting to dvd format.
My simple question is how do I convert my video file to completely fill my TV screen. Is am setting my conversion to PAL 4.3 and output to 720x576 BUT when I play my DVD's I get a black screen above and below my picture and I have to use zoom on my DVD player(usually 3 times zoom ) to fill the picture on my screen

What is your video source ?
    Is it widescreen ?

Assuming it is, you have to resize the video to fill the screen (and thereby throw away up to a third of the image by cutting off the ends), then encode for 4:3. You will find that the image will be softer because of the resize.

How do you watch commercial widescreen movies at the moment ?
