    Good Morning Everyone,

I recently purchased a RJ Tech 800-DVX to play some extra media through my TV. However, upon hooking it up to my television I discovered a slight problem.

Apparently, through troubleshooting and hooking the 800-DVX up to other TVs I have discovered that there is an incompatibility issue with my 9 year old 31" Panasonic.

Upon hooking the 800 up to the 9 yr old Panasonic it distorts the image like this below:

I am hoping someone can give me some advice to fix this problem. I will try everything short of buying a new TV.

edit: I did try all the different setting and resets. Like I said it worked on my other tv but not this one. I have two other DVD player that work with no problems on this set.

    Thanks!!!!

This looks like to me that your are trying to hook up using an S-VIDEO and at least one pin does not connect properly to TV. Another possibility is the RJ800 is set to "Multi System" or "PAL" and your panasonic can only take NTSC while your other TV's can take "Multi".

I got this player and haven't got any problems yet.

Thanks for the reply manokat. However, I am running regular video (rca) not s-video. Also, I am set to NTSC, and my video is set correctly.

I wish it was that simple.

    Thanks for the reply though!

I was wondering if a Cable TV Ground Loop Insulator might solve this problem. It seem along with this funky image I also get a hum that does not go away even if the unit is powered off. The only time the hum goes away is when I disconnect the RGB cables from the TV.

Like I said before it works just fine on my 19" tv just no on my 31" panasonic.

You could probably be right here, RJ800 plug is a three-prong/computer-like plug so there is a possibility for ground loop problem, especially if you hook up the TV to the cable tv as well.

Try to unhook your cable TV plug and plug your TV on the same power bar as the DVD player.

Another possibility is that your TV has AGC (automatic gain control), most TV's do not have this, and its AGC is to sensitive to high brightness of RJ800. Try going to setup on RJ800 and set the brightness lower or use an RF modulator (slightly downgraded quality).

Thanks for the reply Manokat. The tv and dvd are on the same surge protector so that is probaly not it. I will try the brightness setting and see what happens.

I have it hooked up using the RGB connectors (RCA type). An RF modulator might be the trick.

I will post back here my findings.

    Thanks again!
