I know some of you don't care, and I for one stopped
caring about mail in rebates, once I got to be a "smarter"
consumer and bought my stuff online, as opposed to waitng
for the "sale with mail in rebate".

But I know for some of us, the practice of using rebates to buy
our media, upgrades to our macs, etc. is still a viable option,
in one's particular household.

To me, I'd rather they just do away with rebates altogether
and start being more competitive with online vendors/wholesalers,
by either price matching, or just lowering the damn markup
on goods period. If a 200GB hard drive for instance,
can be bought for as low as $85, why not sell it for that,
instead of selling it for $99 AFTER a $40 mail in rebate?
It wil sell ( in the same amounts) if you are competitive...?
