    Hi everyone,

I am going to hospital in a few weeks time for approximately 5 days. I have Thomson Lyra PDP2860U (or something like that), basically it is just a music and video jukebox (with a little video screen). It is just like the Archos range of handheld audio and video players. I think Thomson is in Europe only, I think in America they are called RCA (or something like that).

Anyway I would like to take some DVDs with me on the unit. Apparently it can play AVI video's encoded in MPEG4 or DivX 4/5. I have already ripped them in Mac the Ripper, I now just have a VIDEO_TS (and sometimes a AUDIO_TS) folder. I downloaded ffmpegx and all the extra's needed (mplayer, menconder, mpeg2enc). I also went and downloaded a trial version of the DivX Pro codec for Mac. Then I went and looked at the "How to's..." part of the ffmpegx website. I choose the tutorial listed "How to covert a VIDEO_TS folder to DivX" (or something like that). I got on fine until the bit when it said choose the "DivX (mencoder, libviac)" quick preset. There was no such option. What should I do?

Do I need the DivX Pro codec?
    I have installed it properly.

    Thanks.

  2. I need to update the guide. The option is now named "DivX mencoder".

Thanks Major. Sorry if that question was difficult to understand. But you managed to answer it!

I think once when I tried to do that there was no audio?

Do I need the DivX Pro codec or not? (If not I wouldn't want to waste my money!)

P.S...It's a great application, Major! Keep up the good work! I can't wait for version 1!

  4. You don't need the DivX Pro codec to encode with ffmpegX, but you may need it to playback DivX movies with Quicktime Player. Alternatively you may just use VLC or MplayerOSX to playback.

Concerning audio, use the "Play" button at the top of the window to check if there is audio, and try to change audio track in the Audio tab until you hear audio, then encode.

OK, I'll try that and let you know how I get on.

Thanks for all the help, Major!
