This week Best Buy has an instant 20% off all Open Box and Clearance items. This is advertised in the DVD Recorders section of their ad, but a sales associate informed me that it applied to all Open Box and Clearance items. Some SlickDeals can be had such as my example below.

Pioneer DVR-225S DVD Recorder. This was clearanced (mine was open box) at $195 - $39 (20%) = $156. The sales associates I had were not the brightest and had actually charged me $149 instead of the $156.

    Good Luck!

Or you can get a brand new one for $175 at Walmart. Not sure about you, but I'd pay an extra $20 to know mine was virgin and unsoiled.

  3. Hi:
Best Buy must have 40 open box DVD recorders on sale. Not just one of each model but some models with 3 or 4 stacked on each other. I'm sure they are not display models but returns from customers unhappy with the performance or with a bug that their Geek squad fixed.

Are they down to $175 now at Wal-Mart? Last I saw they were at $198.

I think it's more likely that the DVD recorder returns are mostly the result of people buying them, taking them home, then quickly discovering they are not as simple to use as a VCR. They get frustrated and return the machines because they don't want to bother to RTFM and learn how to use them.

Nah they don't, well, with exception of the one with Tivo - the DVR-810H-S. They have that one at the best buy near me at least. It's not as good as the Pioneer 420/520 though for more than a few reasons, one being that it lacks editing functions common to the 420/520.

    Them? Fix something? Like that?

Most of those people are dumber than a pile of dog droppings!

No way. Not in a million years. DVD recorders are FAR BEYOND those people, to say the least. Most of them are just dorks that barely know how to install a floppy drive or remove spyware.
