I am making a highligt DVD of my daughter's soccer season. I have some ideas for the background music but I am curious if anyone knows of a site or a forum that discuss this.

Having scenes of kids playing at the lakehouse are good, but when I put Here Comes the Sun as the music - the piece became a memorable, emotional memory. That's the main reason I do this stuff anyway.

Thanks for any guidance or help.

  2. When you create the DVD using your preferred encoder (TMPGEnc is good) you could feed a custom audio source that you create (so, your song) into it instead of the actual one that would have run with the video.

Maybe you could take the actual audio, open it with Cool Edit and mix in a specially-quietened song so it doesn't obstruct the actual video sounds. Save the final mix as a .WAV and use it alongside your video. Just be careful not to change the length of the audio file (time-wise) or else your final video will be out of sync!

Just so you know how to do this with Cool Edit (that's how I would do it):

    - Open the song up
    - Go to Effects --> Amplitude --> Amplify and drop the amplitude to something quiet
    - Ensure it's long enough and will fit in with your original audio stream (so, music is timed to come in when you want and fade out/stop when you want)
    - Copy the whole lot to the clipboard
    - Open up the original audio stream
    - Select all and right-click the waveform
    - Select "Mix-paste" and ensure the button for "Overlap (Mix)" is on

This will mix your music with the original audio, so you don't lose anything.

Hope this is of some use to you. Good luck!

I don't know how much of this you a going to do but most video editing programs should be able to do it for you.

  5. You can fine some good tunes for kids Soccer games at http://www.freeplaymusic.com/.

Keep in mind these are not royalty free. They are free for your own personal use. If you're making movies to sell to other parents, there's a license fee, and it's not cheap.

There are some music programs out there that you may find useful like SmartSound for adding royalty free music to your movies. Here's a few. Do a google search for others.

I do film kids Soccer, make a movie and sell to the parents on DVD. I use Sonic Fire Pro from Smart Sound.

  7. I'm not sure I have anything that you want for soccer.. but you can use my piano music royalty free for any of your other projects.

I have a blog at Ghost Notes where I post my piano compositions. And they are available for video or any other type of project.. royalty free.

I'm continually adding new music.. so check back for updates.

If you want to do something commercial.. like sell the videos to people or whatever.. just email me and let me know. I only ask for people to list me as a source. Otherwise totally free. I haven't turned anyone down yet. If you can't find something you like.. let me know.. I take requests.

    Thanks,
    Bill
