Hi, I've got some VCD's that work fine on my Laptop via Windows Media Player, but won't play on my DVD Player.

I have a Matsui DVD-125 DVD Player, and I found two hacks to make it Multi-Region and VCD enabled. The Multi-Region hack works, and although the VCD hack appeared to work on screen, the VCD's still won't play.

Unfortunately I can't tell you much about what software was used to create the VCD's, or how they were created, but the files on the discs are .dat files if that helps?

Basically I need to know if there's any way to convert/configure the discs to work on a DVD Player. FYI - I've tried the discs on some other DVD Players, and they still won't work!

I'm based in London, and I think the VCD's were created in the USA. I know there's some conflicts with PAL and NTSC, but having hacked my DVD Player to be Multi-Region, I wouldn't have thought this would be an issue.

Thanks for any help or advice you may have...

    Dan

Doesn't look like the DVD-125 officially suppports VCD. Although the hack seems to work on some units, doesn't mean it will work on all of them. If you really need VCD support, I'd suggest picking up another player.

Since you have tried the discs on other machines and they don't work, I'd say you have improperly configured or burned discs.

You could always remux the video and remaster the disc.
