  1. i have a Hitachi Dvp 345 dvd player - are there any hacks or firmware to upgrade this so i can play MPeg 4 on this?

    No. It seems it doesn't play AVI at all. To date, I've not come across any f/w or hack that would make a non AV//DivX/XviD player play any of those formats.

    Mats is correct. It's not a firmware issue, it's a hardware issue. DVD players that support DivX actually have a special chip that decodes the video. Players that don't have the decoder chip don't support DivX. DivX decoding takes enormous resources, which is why it uses a special chip.

    Only time it'd work, was if you found a "crippled" player - At times, identical stuff is sold with different price tags, with different features enabled (in the firmware). Not that I know of any that'd fit this bill, tho...
