Has anyone had the chance to try the TY 16x media yet?

I've seen them at Rima.com so far. Anywhere else? I don't doubt TY's quality, so when I need discs next, I'll be picking some up.

well i have some home...
if you think you will get better quality scans @16x than @8x you are dreamer....
if you care about quality you better burn any media at slower speed...
that is truth...remember
so at this time we do not need any @16x media...
8x was good enough for safe burning...
we need at least some medium 4x or 6x dvd+r DL for better price... -
Be advised that burning slower does not always mean you will get better burns. This is especially true when changing the recording speed more than one or two speeds. The advanced dyes used in some high speed media may not work well when recorded at slow speeds.Originally Posted by deejay.2001
That said, results can sometimes be improved by adjusting the speed by one or two steps. Some people say dog is mans best friend. I say that man is dog's best slave... At least that is what my dogs think. -
i never understood why people would buy fast media/burners, and then burn at slow speeds.. its like buying a lamborghini, but buying gas that would only allow you to drive at 30mph or it will mess up the engine..
if i've got a 16x burner, i'm gonna 16x media, and burn the media at 16x.
same thing with cd-r's..
why not just burn at 1x, that way you'll get the best results
its retarded.. and people who do scans are retarded.. if you're using a quality burner & quality media, and it plays in your dvd players just fine.. then you dont need to worry about anything else.

Scans are useful when used appropriately. In addition, people do use DVD burners to archive data, not just video. My first plextor 712A drive was a dud, I even got POFs with some scans. The POFs would show as errors on a transfer rate test. Plextor agreed the drive was bad, and I was issued a RMA.Originally Posted by lumis
