I'm looking for a laptop for a relative and while I know what I would want in a desktop, I'm clueless when it comes to laptops. He wants something to send away to college with his daughter, it mainly being used for school, internet and email, but nothing fancy. He wants to spend less than $2000 but the cheaper the better. Any suggestions on what he should get and where to buy from would be appreciated.
I've bought several items from Newegg, would this be as good as any to order from? Thanks!

Dell inspirion... sometimes you can get them relatively cheap from new. Or you could check ebay and get a lease return Thinkpad or something. In the realm of laptops, there really isn't a "cheap" just cheaper than others. For what a college student would need though, a low end inspirion would probably fit the bill just dandily.

So I need to look for Dell Inspirion at Dell.com right, or is there another place to find them cheaper?
