  1. I have movies in my hard drive that I want to copy to dvd-R. They've been converted to MPEG, however, when I go to TMPGenc DVD Author it tells me file is too big. How can you shrink the file so that this program can author and rip it? I tried DVDShrink but it tells me "cannot read specified file". Please help. Thanks.

Demultiplex the MPEG so you get a m2v and a mp2. Download the trail version of DVD Lab and import the m2v and mp2. Make the DVD how you want it then compile the DVD. After that is done you'll have a VIDEO_TS folder, just load that up in DVDShrink and then you can fit it on a disc.
