  1. Hi, reading and learning but maybe a newb here...

Just bought my Plextor 716A that came with EZ DVD Creator Basic software. Getting used to some annoyances about the software and some limitations, learning a lot.

I transfered DV from my Sony Camcorder using the Mpeg2 option, single file, about 4.2GB. As soon as I add title, the size jumps to 5.2GB which means I can't add it to a single DVD. This is without creating chapters (which I noticed doesn't add to the size significantly). Where is the overhead? Is it because it's decoding the audio as .wav rather than AC3? If yes, any freeware you can point me to (I'll check the forum as well).

Second problem is that I cut off the last 20 minutes of the Video to fit it onto a single DVD (this was my first burn so I was just itching to get started). I created a main menu, animated, added sound, changed skin etc. then chapters underneath the main menu (only one). The problem is that even though I can scroll through the menu/chapters, the video starts as soon as I put it into the DVD player. Just weird and it defeats the reason to put menus. What am I doing wrong?

Finally, this quesiton probably belongs somewhere else but what's the best way to edit MP3's? Using the same Roxio program, I am trying to create a photo album (still and video) and I would like to put in background music of my choice (mp3). Roxio seems to be easy enough but it puts the entire length of the song whereas I would like to put in snippets.

    Thanks,

    Sunny

Do yourself a favor and buy NERO BURN which is on sale for $60.00 after instant rebate at COMPUSA. ROXIO sucks in my opinion. Use TMPGE PLUS to create your MPEG files and TMPGE DVD AUTHOR to author your dvd then use NERO to burn. Look at the guides to the left<<<<<<.

  3. Just to second the above comment, Roxio would be at the bottom of my recommended software list. Look at the tools section and check the ratings. Nero works for me, but some others have issues and there are freeware solutions possible. Nyah Levi

Agree, I have 3 Plextor Drives and still can't believe they teamed up with Roxio. Ditch that software ASAP.
