  1. Hi Guys

Can anyone tell me the best (easiest for newbie too) program for editing out the ads on video captured from a hdtv card?

My card captures it as mpeg I think.

Is this the same program that can put it on a dvd?

    Thanks

  2. If it is mpeg, try Womble mpeg video wizard.

i like womble mpeg vcr.. it might be the same thing as the wizard.. womble makes good stuff

edit: just checked the womble website, looks like mpeg vcr begat mpeg video wizard.. i'll have to check in to its features and such.. maybe you can edit mpeg2 video with lpcm audio without it converting it to mp2 audio.. thats the only thing i hated about mpeg vcr..

I would give TMPGenc DVD Author a try. You can easily edit out commercials and then author it to DVD. I have edited many recorded
TV shows and have never had a problem.

Womble is a good mpeg editor but I do not think you can author and then burn to DVD with it.

You may also want to give VideoReDo a try. My understanding is that it now has some basic capability for detecting commercials. However, it is not capable of authoring and burning to DVD.

Womble Mpeg Video wizard allows me to edit VOBs from my DVD recorder with out re-encoding the 2.0 Ac3 audio, so I would guess the same is true if you have LPCM audio.

    bugster,

do your vobs contain lpcm audio?

doesnt matter if they do or dont now. i e-mailed womble customer service and they verified that the program does in fact cut video with lpcm audio with converting it to mp2.

there is a 30 day free trial available (if you give them a valid email address).

No, Ac3, but as womble doesn't touch the audio encoding or the video encoding if all you do is cutts and splices, I expected the same would be true of LPCM audio too. It seems like my assumption (guess!) was correct.

Just a thought. When I edit a VOB in Womble, (just cut and splice) and then output the result, it outputs it as an mpeg program stream. This does not allow for LPCM audio, just mp2 and Ac3 as far as I know, so how does it output from VOB sources that contain LPCM without messing up the audio?
