  1. Netflix
    DVD Rentals Delivered.
    Only $11.99/Month!

Is this going to be the new price or is it
just for new members. I saw this on the
    frontpage of Netscape.

This is from my Netflix account...

    2-at-a-time (4 rentals a month) for $11.99

I had the 8-out plan but switched to the 3-out.

Last time I rented 2 DVD videos from BLOCKBUSTER it came to somewhere between $9.00 and $10.00 so $11.99 a month, even though only limited to 2 out at once, sounds like a deal to me.

  6. The reason I lowered my account to 3-out
is shown in my Queue below.

I'm not angry about it. I just want to watch
the entire set, but most of them have arrived broken!

In one of the Netflix threads somebody mentioned that
one company uses padded mailers. That seems like a
good idea. Just use new shipping labels. I don't know
if that would raise the mailing rate with the Post Office though.

I don't know how the DVDs keep getting broken. It's not that
    easy to break one.

They lowered everything a couple of bucks recently. The 3 out is $17.99 (previously $19.99, then $21.99), and the 2 out was $14.99.

FWIW, I posted parts of a study on online rentals (for which I helped gather data) here.

I've had netflix for 11 months now ... and I never really got ANY broken discs until the last 2 months. I've probably had 5-10 broken ones, sometimes the same disc 2-3 times.

Walmart is far worse. Add that to slow, and you never get anything. Money pit.

    Blockbuster ... again... same thing.

Gamefly .. now THEY have smarts ... cardboard inserts to keep disc protected.

  10. AOL sends out their free discs in those beautiful
    plastic DVD cases.

Hmmmm......begining to wonder why our rental
discs couldn't be shipped the same way!

    That would be nice.

Like I said, I'm not angry about all of the broken ones.
Seems like they've all been going to lordsmurf's house anyways!

    I think it's a reasonably good deal.

It's the 1st im hearing about broken or bad disc almost every disc i've received has worked great. I was with netflix on and off and will most likely keep them as they're the only good video store out there. I was with them when they 1st started and always had great service. Infact if you live on the east coast mail system it will take about 1 - 2 days. I've always received the dvd's the next day they've shipped.

  14. I've been with NetFlix for over two years. With 478 rentals only two discs have been lost and eight have been unplayable.

    I like those odds.

  15. Netflix IMO is way ahead of the competition. I've been with them for about 6 months and the turnaround rate is really good. I tried blockbuster but my problem with them was they would send stuff that wasn't at the top of my queue even though they said it was available. Turnaround was kind of slow too.

  16. Blockbuster does like to ship discs that aren't at the top of the list. The turnaround time for me is the same as Netflix, so the $4 less per month, plus the 2 free in store rentals makes Blockbuster better for me. BB is also alot better at having TV series that were just released available than Netflix. I got 1 disc from them that was cracked and once one never came, but they sent replacements as soon as I told them about it.
