0.0.9a on Panther

I try to encode MOV to SVCD with 0.0.9a on Panther. Wenn I want to start the message appears: AppleScript Error: Can't get text item 2 of "/User/....... /mov" (-1728) - this means the name of my movie. I have tried different movies and nothing.
Any idea what's wrong?

Try to set text encoding = english in "International" system prefs panel.

Dear Sirs:
i use osx 10.3.8 and wish to encode (avi + srt) files with subtitle font = osaka and text encoding = Big5 .
The film and subtitle can play after the play buttom is pressed ,but the same error code (Applescript Error .....)apears after the "Encode" buttom is pressed , even with changing the system pref-international-text encoding.
Can anyone help me with this problem ?

Does your disk name / paths use japanese characters?

Actually , My Envirement is ffmpegx 0.0.9s , and i didnt use jap. characters for the diskname /paths.
Any comment will be appreciate!!
