Hi,
I recently burned a few DVDs for a friend. One of the DVDs had an average bitrate of 7800 kbps, while the other two had constant bitrates of just under 9800 kbps (9300 video and 448 audio).
The first DVD plays fine is his DVD players (a Denon DVD-1600 and Sansui VRDV4005), but the higher-bitrate DVDs won't (the Denon won't play them at all, while the Sansui will only play the sound, but no video).
All three work fine in his PC's DVD-ROM drive. I'm supposing that two DVD players are choking on the higher bitrate, yet the DVDs are still within the DVD standard.
Is there a list of non-standard compliant DVD players out there? Is there some maximum bitrate to use that will better ensure maximum compatibility? Should I go down to 8000 kbps? Or even lower?
Thanks!
