Captured DV with Canopus ADVC100 & WinDV but sound cuts

I just recorded 7 hours of TV using the Capopus ADVC100 and WinDV.
when played back through WinDVD or Media Player the whole video is fine but if i try to play it back through virtualdub or Tmpegenc the sound cuts off around the first hour mark, I don't understand it, please help.

I have previously recorded 4 hours recently with no problem.

Is there any program I can use which will cut the file in two to avoid the problem area? (which is an advert break)

Okay found AVCutty works with the file but it's so slow in saving the sepparate file, it's taking about as long to save it as it did to capture it.
