    i am looking for a free program tah twill allow me to remove the begining of a mpg does anyone know of a free program?

    MPEG Streamclip will do it if you just want to cut something off the beginning of an MPEG.

    MPEG Streamclip is free but you may also want (or need) Apple's QuickTime MPEG-2 Playback Component for increased functionality and that costs $19.99USD.
