  1. Hi, I have an Xbox and a dvd player that I want to connect to my LCD tv that has only one component input. (Before someone suggests it - The xbox makes a crappy dvd player, it can only output at 480i and the dvd player I have puts out to 480p.)

Must I purchase a component video selector or can I use another method...Like using the old S-vid selector that I have and just use the RCA inputs and outputs (2 audio and 1 video as the 3 component cables...) as a selector. I guess my question is: Are the component cables the same wiring as RCA composite cables or no?

From what I've been told, although component cables are analog just like your RCA cables, they can't be subsituted. But if your curious just try them out and see. Trial and error can be your best friend sometimes.

Yeah, i got this s-vid switcher that I was just getting ready to try out...Hope it works. I'll open it up if it doesn't work to see if I can resolder some wires and get it to do what I want.

  4. Well I ended up picking up one of the Pelican component selectors. Only 25 bones and it works fine.
